1What is in the pass
- Timed exams, as many as you want. Each one is 125 questions in 180 minutes, with the national portion drawn across PSI's national broker content areas in their published shares and the state portion in the item counts PSI's New Mexico outline gives, so a full timed exam is 75 national and 50 state questions, with questions you have not seen yet served first. You get your score against the 75% pass line and a score for each portion, since each portion is passed separately.
- Practice by topic. Pick any of the 8 national content areas or a New Mexico area, or the questions you missed last time. The right answer and the reason appear as soon as you answer.
- New Mexico questions with their law cited. 127 questions on New Mexico rules: who needs a license and the exceptions, associate and qualifying brokers, unlicensed assistants and transaction coordinators, errors and omissions insurance, license transfer and renewal, continuing education, the Commission's grounds for discipline and the recovery fund, advertising and signage, trust accounts, property management, the broker duties and their written disclosure, transaction brokers and dual agency, the Human Rights Act, mechanics' liens, property tax and water disclosures, public improvement district notices and homeowner association disclosure certificates, and more. Each explanation names the New Mexico Statutes section (NMSA 1978) or Commission rule (16.61 NMAC) it comes from, with the date it was read.
- National questions to the outline. 400 questions on the principles every state tests, weighted to Pearson VUE's national content outline, down to each sub-topic. They include the 80 on the free practice exam.
- Your weak topics, tracked. Every answer is recorded in your browser, so the app can show your accuracy by topic and send you back to the areas below the pass line.

New Mexico's entry license is the associate broker license, and its exam is a national broker exam plus the New Mexico broker exam. PSI's New Mexico bulletin gives the national portion as a share of the exam for each content area (broker percentages) and the New Mexico portion as item counts: 6, 7, 15, 15 and 7 of 50. A full timed exam here draws 75 national questions in those shares (rounded to whole questions) and exactly 50 state questions in those counts; you can also time each portion on its own. The real national broker exam includes scenario questions worth up to two points; every question here is worth one point.

2How the New Mexico broker exam works
- Two exams. The broker exam has a national portion of 75 (80 points) questions in 120 Minutes and a New Mexico portion of 50 questions in 60 Minutes. National broker exams include questions that are scored up to two points. PSI may add 5 to 10 experimental questions, and the time taken to answer them will not count against testing time.
- Passing score. In order to pass the examinations, you must receive a score of at least 75%: 60 correct on the national portion and 38 correct on the New Mexico portion. You must pass both the national and state-specific examinations within 90 days of passing the first examination.
- Fee. The fee is $95 for the two portions, whether you take one or both.

3A sample New Mexico question
This is one of the New Mexico questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.
An associate broker is the listing broker for a seller. The buyer is working with a broker from another brokerage. How is the required disclosure of broker duties, and acknowledgment of its receipt, handled for the buyer?
- The listing associate broker must deliver it directly to the buyer
- The seller must deliver it to the buyer with the counter-offer
- It is made through the broker who is directly providing real estate services to the buyer
- No disclosure is required, because the listing broker is not serving the buyer
Answer and explanation
Answer C: It is made through the broker who is directly providing real estate services to the buyer
When a broker is not directly providing real estate services to a party, the disclosure and acknowledgment are made through the broker who is directly serving that party. Here, that is the buyer's own broker. The disclosure is still required, so saying none is needed is wrong. The listing broker does not have to deliver it personally.
