1What is in the pass
- Timed exams, as many as you want. Each one is 130 questions in 240 minutes, with the general portion drawn across PSI's general content areas in their published shares and the state portion in the sales associate item counts PSI's Kentucky outline gives, so a full timed exam is 80 general and 50 state questions, with questions you have not seen yet served first. You get your score against the 75% pass line and a score for each portion, since each portion is passed separately.
- Practice by topic. Pick any of the 8 national content areas or a Kentucky area, or the questions you missed last time. The right answer and the reason appear as soon as you answer.
- Kentucky questions with their law cited. 134 questions on Kentucky rules: the Commission and the recovery fund, complaints and sanctions, who needs a license, renewal, continuing and post-license education, errors and omissions insurance, the principal broker's duties, advertising, escrow accounts and earnest money, written offers, listing and purchase contracts, agency disclosure and dual agency, the seller's disclosure of conditions form, condominium resale certificates, the broker's lien, the zero call list, property management agreements and security deposits, and more. Each explanation names the Kentucky Revised Statutes section or Commission regulation (201 KAR 11) it comes from, with the date it was read.
- National questions to the outline. 400 questions on the principles every state tests, weighted to Pearson VUE's national content outline, down to each sub-topic. They include the 80 on the free practice exam.
- Your weak topics, tracked. Every answer is recorded in your browser, so the app can show your accuracy by topic and send you back to the areas below the pass line.

PSI's Kentucky bulletin gives the general portion as a share of the exam for each content area and the state portion as item counts for sales associates: 5, 10, 18, 6, 8 and 3 of the 50 state items. A full timed exam here draws 80 general questions in those shares (rounded to whole questions) and exactly 50 state questions in those counts; you can also time each portion on its own.

2How the Kentucky sales associate exam works
- Two portions. The sales associate exam has a general portion of 80 questions in 150 minutes and a state portion of 50 questions in 90 minutes, 240 minutes when you take both. PSI may add 5 to 10 experimental questions that are not scored and whose time does not count against you.
- Passing score. You need at least 75% correct to pass. If you pass one portion and fail the other, you retake only the section failed, but if you do not pass both portions within 4 months from passing the portion, you must take both again.
- Fee. PSI charges $100 whether you take one portion or both.

3A sample Kentucky question
This is one of the Kentucky questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.
A homeowner verbally tells a sales associate, "Go ahead and advertise my house for sale." Before advertising the property, what must the sales associate obtain?
- The written consent of the owner
- The owner's oral consent, noted in the file
- Written approval from the commission
- The written consent of a neighboring property owner
Answer and explanation
Answer A: The written consent of the owner
A licensee may not advertise real estate for sale or lease without the owner's written consent. Verbal permission alone does not satisfy the rule. The tempting wrong answer is oral consent noted in the file, but documenting a verbal approval does not make it written consent from the owner.
