1What is in the pass
- Timed exams, as many as you want. Each one is 120 questions in 180 minutes, with the national portion drawn across PSI's national content areas in their published shares and the state portion in the item counts PSI's Ohio outline gives, so a full timed exam is 80 national and 40 state questions, with questions you have not seen yet served first. You get your score against the 70% pass line and a score for each portion, since each portion is passed separately.
- Practice by topic. Pick any of the 8 national content areas or an Ohio area, or the questions you missed last time. The right answer and the reason appear as soon as you answer.
- Ohio questions with their law cited. 140 questions on Ohio rules: the Commission, the superintendent and the recovery fund, who needs a license, renewal, inactive status and continuing education, advertising and team names, trust accounts and earnest money, offers and record keeping, inducements, the agency disclosure statement, dual and split agency, duties to clients and Ohio fair housing, and more. Each explanation names the Ohio Revised Code section or Ohio Real Estate Commission rule it comes from, with the date it was read.
- National questions to the outline. 400 questions on the principles every state tests, weighted to Pearson VUE's national content outline, down to each sub-topic. They include the 80 on the free practice exam.
- Your weak topics, tracked. Every answer is recorded in your browser, so the app can show your accuracy by topic and send you back to the areas below the pass line.

PSI's Ohio bulletin gives the national portion as a share of the exam for each content area and the state portion as item counts: 4, 6, 16 and 14 of the 40 state items. A full timed exam here draws 80 national questions in those shares (rounded to whole questions) and exactly 40 state questions in those counts; you can also time each portion on its own.

2How the Ohio salesperson exam works
- Two portions. The salesperson exam has a national portion of 80 items in 120 minutes and a state portion of 40 items in 60 minutes, 180 minutes when you take both. PSI may add 5 to 10 unscored experimental questions, which count against your time.
- Passing score. You need 70% on each portion. Each portion is passed on its own; if you fail one, you retake only that portion.
- Eligibility. Both portions must be passed within 12 months of the date on the label of your bulletin from PSI. After that, you start over with a new exam application.
- Fees. PSI charges $66 for both portions taken at the same time, $46 for the national portion alone and $43 for the state portion alone.

3A sample Ohio question
This is one of the Ohio questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.
A salesperson will represent both the seller and the buyer in the same transaction. How must the parties consent to this dual representation?
- Both parties must consent orally before any showing
- The seller must consent in writing, and the buyer may consent orally
- Both the seller and the purchaser must consent in writing on the agency disclosure statement
- The principal broker's written approval is enough
Answer and explanation
Answer C: Both the seller and the purchaser must consent in writing on the agency disclosure statement
A licensee may act as a dual agent only if both the seller and the purchaser fully understand the dual representation. Each must also consent in writing on the agency disclosure statement. Oral consent is not enough for either party, and a principal broker's approval cannot replace the clients' own written consent.
