1What is in the pass
- Timed exams, as many as you want. Each one is 140 questions in 240 minutes, with the national portion drawn across PSI's national content areas in their published salesperson shares and the state portion across the four areas of PSI's North Dakota outline, so a full timed exam is 100 national and 40 state questions, with questions you have not seen yet served first. You get a score for each portion against its own pass line: national portion 70 of 100, state portion 30 of 40.
- Practice by topic. Pick any of the 8 national content areas or a North Dakota area, or the questions you missed last time. The right answer and the reason appear as soon as you answer.
- North Dakota questions with their law cited. 132 questions on North Dakota rules: the commission's powers, complaints and hearings, who needs a license and the exceptions, license standards, renewal and continuing education, inactive licenses, errors and omissions insurance, brokerage firm duties and appointed agents, agency and nonagency disclosure, advertising, listings, buyer's broker agreements and offers, commissions and out-of-state splits, psychologically impacted property, the Subdivided Lands Disposition Act and the recovery fund, and more. Each explanation names the North Dakota Century Code section or Commission rule (N.D. Admin. Code 70-02) it comes from, with the date it was read.
- National questions to the outline. 400 questions on the principles every state tests, weighted to Pearson VUE's national content outline, down to each sub-topic. They include the 80 on the free practice exam.
- Your weak topics, tracked. Every answer is recorded in your browser, so the app can show your accuracy by topic and send you back to the areas below the pass line.

PSI's North Dakota bulletin gives the national portion as a salesperson share of the exam for each content area, and lists four areas for the state portion without saying how many of the state questions each holds. The state counts used here, 6, 8, 22 and 4, are this site's own choice, weighted toward the activities area the outline describes in the most detail. A full timed exam draws 100 national questions in PSI's shares (rounded to whole questions) and 40 state questions in those counts; you can also time each portion on its own.

2How the North Dakota salesperson exam works
- Two portions. The salesperson exam has a national portion of 100 (100 points) questions in 150 minutes and a state portion of 40 (40 points) in 90 minutes. PSI may add a small number (5 to 10) of experimental questions that are not scored but count against examination time.
- Passing score. PSI's table lists a passing score of 70 on the national portion and 30 on the state portion. Candidates who pass one (1) portion of the examination and fail the other need to retake only the section they failed.
- Fee. PSI charges $134 whether you take one portion or both.

3A sample North Dakota question
This is one of the North Dakota questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.
A buyer wants to use a promissory note as the deposit on an offer to purchase. Under what condition may the salesperson accept it?
- Never
- Only with the knowledge and permission of the salesperson's principal
- Only if the buyer's lender approves
- Only if the note is for a small amount
Answer and explanation
Answer B: Only with the knowledge and permission of the salesperson's principal
A North Dakota licensee may not accept a note, a nonnegotiable instrument or anything else not readily negotiable as a deposit unless the principal knows and permits it. The rule is not an absolute ban, so never is wrong. Lender approval does not replace the principal's permission.
