The item counts are the scored items in each category of the Commission's content outline: 80 on the National section and 60 on the State section, with 5 unscored pretest items added to each. A full timed exam here draws exactly those counts; you can also time each section on its own.

3A sample North Carolina question

This is one of the North Carolina questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.

In a sales transaction that is not an auction, a buyer's agent must give the seller's agent written confirmation that the broker represents the buyer. Where may this written confirmation be made?

  1. In the Working with Real Estate Agents publication given to the buyer
  2. In the seller's listing agreement
  3. In the multiple listing service listing
  4. In the buyer's offer to purchase
Answer and explanation

Answer D: In the buyer's offer to purchase

A buyer's agent must disclose the buyer representation at initial contact with the seller or seller's agent. The agent must then confirm it in writing no later than delivery of an offer. That written confirmation may be made in the buyer's offer to purchase and must include the broker's license number. The publication given to the buyer is a separate requirement and goes to a different person.
