1What is in the pass
- Timed exams, as many as you want. Each one is 135 questions in 240 minutes, drawn across Pearson VUE's content areas, 80 national items in the outline's counts and 55 Louisiana items at the middle of each range the Louisiana outline gives, with questions you have not seen yet served first. You get your score by content area against a 75% study target; the Louisiana Real Estate Commission publishes no passing score.
- Practice by topic. Pick any of the 8 national content areas or a Louisiana area, or the questions you missed last time. The right answer and the reason appear as soon as you answer.
- Louisiana questions with their law cited. 140 questions on Louisiana rules: who needs a license and the exemptions, sponsorship, renewal and errors and omissions insurance, the Commission's sanctions and the Recovery Fund, advertising and teams, escrow accounts and deposits, net listings, buyer agreements and offers, the property disclosure document, immovables and component parts, servitudes and usufruct, co-ownership and community property, successions and donations, acquisitive prescription, offers and acceptance, authentic acts, sales, lesion and redhibition, bond for deed, leases and reconduction, the lessee's deposit, designated and dual agency and the duties to clients and customers, and more. Each explanation names the Louisiana Revised Statutes section, Commission rule (LAC 46:LXVII) or Civil Code article it comes from, with the date it was read.
- National questions to the outline. 400 questions on the principles every state tests, weighted to Pearson VUE's national content outline, down to each sub-topic. They include the 80 on the free practice exam.
- Your weak topics, tracked. Every answer is recorded in your browser, so the app can show your accuracy by topic and send you back to the areas below the study target.

Pearson VUE's Louisiana outlines give the national portion as 80 scored items across eight areas and the Louisiana portion as 55 scored items, each Louisiana area as a range (4-6, 7-9, 13-15, 13-15 and 13-15 items, in the outline effective September 1, 2021). The timed exam here draws the 80 national items in the outline's counts and the 55 Louisiana items at the middle of each range (5, 8, 14, 14 and 14), this site's own split, in the time the handbook gives the combination exam. The real exam also carries unscored pretest items.

2How the Louisiana salesperson exam works
- Two portions. The salesperson exam has a national portion of eighty (80) scored items in 150 minutes and a Louisiana portion of fifty-five (55) scored items in 90 minutes; taken together as the combination exam it is 135 items in 240 minutes. The national portion adds five (5) pretest items and the Louisiana portion five to ten (5-10) pretest items that do not count.
- Passing score. The Commission set the passing score with Pearson VUE: With a passing score of 70 for salesperson on each portion, a scaled score that is neither the number of questions you answered correctly nor the percentage of questions you answered correctly, so the timed exams here score you against a study target instead.
- Retakes. If you pass one part and fail the other, you need to retake ONLY the failed part and must do so within one full year. Candidates are authorized for one year with unlimited attempts, and A passing exam score is good for one year.
- Fee. The combination exam costs $81 on the first attempt and $96 on repeat attempts.

3A sample Louisiana question
This is one of the Louisiana questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.
A commission investigator visits salesperson Dana's office and asks her questions about a recent sale. Dana says she will not answer until she receives a subpoena. What does the License Law require of Dana?
- She may refuse until she is formally subpoenaed
- She must cooperate fully and answer all questions put to her by the commission personnel
- She may answer only through a written statement from her sponsoring broker
- She must answer only if she is named in a verified complaint
Answer and explanation
Answer B: She must cooperate fully and answer all questions put to her by the commission personnel
Every licensee must cooperate fully with commission personnel and answer all of their questions during an investigation, inquiry or records inspection. That duty does not depend on first receiving a subpoena. It also does not depend on the licensee being the subject of a complaint, and her broker cannot answer in her place.
