1What is in the pass
- Timed exams, as many as you want. Each one is 130 questions in 240 minutes, with the uniform portion drawn across PSI's uniform content areas in their published shares and the state portion in the salesperson item counts PSI's Hawaii outline gives, so a full timed exam is 80 uniform and 50 state questions, with questions you have not seen yet served first. You get your score against the 70% pass line and a score for each portion, since each portion is passed separately.
- Practice by topic. Pick any of the 8 national content areas or a Hawaii area, or the questions you missed last time. The right answer and the reason appear as soon as you answer.
- Hawaii questions with their law cited. 130 questions on Hawaii rules: the seller disclosure law, the conveyance tax, HARPTA, condominium resale documents and association liens, the Residential Landlord-Tenant Code and security deposits, the state land use districts, tenancy by the entirety, recording, the licensing law and the Commission's rules on licensing, the principal broker and broker-in-charge, trust accounts, advertising, discipline, discrimination in real property transactions and the disclosure of agency, and more. Each explanation names the Hawaii Revised Statutes section or Commission rule (HAR chapter 16-99) it comes from, with the date it was read.
- National questions to the outline. 400 questions on the principles every state tests, weighted to Pearson VUE's national content outline, down to each sub-topic. They include the 80 on the free practice exam.
- Your weak topics, tracked. Every answer is recorded in your browser, so the app can show your accuracy by topic and send you back to the areas below the pass line.

PSI's Hawaii bulletin gives the uniform (general) portion as a share of the exam for each content area and the state portion as item counts for salespersons: 8, 4, 5, 3, 6, 5, 2, 3 and 14 of the 50 state items. A full timed exam here draws 80 uniform questions in those shares (rounded to whole questions) and exactly 50 state questions in those counts; you can also time each portion on its own.

2How the Hawaii salesperson exam works
- Two portions. The salesperson exam has a uniform (general) portion of 80 questions in 150 minutes and a state portion of 50 questions in 90 minutes, 240 minutes for both. PSI may add 5 to 10 experimental questions that are not scored but count against your time.
- Passing score. The passing score for salespersons is 70%. If you pass one section and fail the other, you retake only the failed section, within two (2) years of the date of the first passed section.
- Fee. The salesperson examination fee is $61.

3A sample Hawaii question
This is one of the Hawaii questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.
A real estate salesperson brings a buyer to a home being offered For Sale By Owner. The salesperson has no listing on the property. What must the salesperson disclose to the seller?
- Who, if anyone, the salesperson represents and who will pay a commission, if any
- Only the salesperson's license number and expiration date
- That the seller must sign an exclusive listing before the home is shown
- The buyer's maximum price and financing terms
Answer and explanation
Answer A: Who, if anyone, the salesperson represents and who will pay a commission, if any
When working with a seller in a For Sale By Owner or Courtesy to Broker situation, the licensee must disclose who, if anyone, the licensee represents and who will pay a commission, if any. Nothing requires the seller to sign an exclusive listing before a showing. Revealing the buyer's price would not satisfy the rule and could harm the buyer.
