1What is in the pass
- Timed exams, as many as you want. Each one is 115 questions in 165 minutes, with the general portion drawn across PSI's general content areas in their published shares and the state portion in the salesperson item counts PSI's Connecticut outline gives, so a full timed exam is 80 general and 35 state questions, with questions you have not seen yet served first. You get your score against the 70% pass line and a score for each portion, since each portion is passed separately.
- Practice by topic. Pick any of the 8 national content areas or a Connecticut area, or the questions you missed last time. The right answer and the reason appear as soon as you answer.
- Connecticut questions with their law cited. 124 questions on Connecticut rules: who needs a license, renewal and reinstatement, the Real Estate Guaranty Fund, agency disclosure at the first personal meeting, dual agency and designated agents, confidential information, deposits, commissions and net listings, the residential condition report and the credit at closing, the conveyance tax, recording and adverse possession, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, common interest community resale certificates and liens, security deposits and the landlord-tenant law, fair housing, interpreters and electronic signatures, and more. Each explanation names the Connecticut General Statutes section or Department of Consumer Protection regulation (Regs. Conn. State Agencies § 20-328) it comes from, with the date it was read.
- National questions to the outline. 400 questions on the principles every state tests, weighted to Pearson VUE's national content outline, down to each sub-topic. They include the 80 on the free practice exam.
- Your weak topics, tracked. Every answer is recorded in your browser, so the app can show your accuracy by topic and send you back to the areas below the pass line.

PSI's Connecticut bulletin gives the general portion as a share of the exam for each content area and the state portion as item counts for salespersons: 7, 11, 9 and 8 of the 35 state items. A full timed exam here draws 80 general questions in those shares (rounded to whole questions) and exactly 35 state questions in those counts; you can also time each portion on its own. The bulletin's summary table prints a smaller total for both portions together than its own rows add up to; its portion rows, its points column and the state outline's item counts all agree on 80 general and 35 state questions, so a full timed exam here has both in full.

2How the Connecticut salesperson exam works
- Two portions. The salesperson exam has a general portion of 80 questions in 120 minutes and a state portion of 35 questions in 45 minutes, 165 minutes for both. PSI may add five to ten "experimental" questions that are not scored, and the time you spend on them does not count against your exam time.
- Passing score. To pass the salesperson examinations you must receive a score of at least 70%. You must pass both portions of the examination within one (1) year of eligibility; if you do not, you reapply with the Department of Consumer Protection.
- Fee. The exam fee is $59 for both portions the first time, and $51 to retake one or both portions.

3A sample Connecticut question
This is one of the Connecticut questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.
Under Connecticut law, which of the following is a nonmaterial fact concerning real property?
- A prior occupant was infected with a disease on the Commissioner of Public Health's list of reportable diseases
- The basement takes on water after heavy rain
- The septic system failed an inspection last year
- The roof is near the end of its useful life
Answer and explanation
Answer A: A prior occupant was infected with a disease on the Commissioner of Public Health's list of reportable diseases
The statute defines a nonmaterial fact concerning real property to include the fact that an occupant is or has been infected with a disease on the Commissioner of Public Health's list of reportable diseases. A site of a suspected death or felony is also included. Water intrusion, septic failure and an aging roof are physical conditions of the property, and the statute keeps a buyer's rights concerning physical deficiencies intact.
