1What is in the pass
- Timed exams, as many as you want. Each one is 140 questions in 240 minutes, with the general portion drawn across Pearson VUE's eight national content areas and the state portion across the Arizona outline's eleven areas, both in the salesperson item counts the handbook gives, so a full timed exam is 80 general and 60 state questions, with questions you have not seen yet served first. You get your score against the 75% pass line and a score for each portion, since the general and state examinations are listed and scored separately.
- Practice by topic. Pick any of the 8 national content areas or an Arizona area, or the questions you missed last time. The right answer and the reason appear as soon as you answer.
- Arizona questions with their law cited. 136 questions on Arizona rules: who needs a license, renewal and continuing education, letters of concern and the recovery fund, the Consumer Fraud Act and the statute of frauds, fair housing and the homestead exemption, advertising and promotions, fiduciary duties and disclosures, contacting a represented principal, property management, subdivision public reports, the affidavit of disclosure for unsubdivided land, employment agreements, trust accounts and earnest money, community property and deeds, HOA resale disclosures, and the anti-deficiency statutes, and more. Each explanation names the Arizona Revised Statutes section or Commissioner's rule (A.A.C. R4-28) it comes from, with the date it was read.
- National questions to the outline. 400 questions on the principles every state tests, weighted to Pearson VUE's national content outline, down to each sub-topic. They include the 80 on the free practice exam.
- Your weak topics, tracked. Every answer is recorded in your browser, so the app can show your accuracy by topic and send you back to the areas below the pass line.

Pearson VUE's Arizona handbook gives the scored items for salespersons in each content area: 11, 9, 11, 16, 10, 9, 7 and 7 of the 80 general items, and 5, 5, 5, 6, 6, 6, 6, 8, 5, 5 and 3 of the 60 Arizona items (state outline effective January 1, 2026). A full timed exam here draws exactly those counts; you can also time each portion on its own. The handbook lists the general and state examinations separately, each with its own time and fee, so each portion here is scored on its own against the handbook's percentage.

2How the Arizona salesperson exam works
- Two examinations. The salesperson exam has a general examination of 80 scored questions in 150 minutes and a state examination of 60 scored questions in 90 minutes, each with five (5) pretest items that will not affect a candidate's score.
- Passing score. The handbook says: You need to answer 75% of questions correctly in order to pass the examination. The score is reported as a percent score on a scale of 0%-100%. After a failed attempt you must wait twenty-four (24) hours before booking a retake.
- Fees and timing. Pearson charges $70 for the general examination and $60 for the state examination. The exam must be successfully completed within one (1) year prior to the date of the license application.

3A sample Arizona question
This is one of the Arizona questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.
To promote sales, a salesperson offers a free weekend hotel stay to people who tour a model home. Which of the following would violate the rules on promotional activities?
- Giving each person the written terms and expiration date before they participate
- Identifying the employing broker's legal name in the promotion
- Describing the free stay as a 'prize' the person has won
- Stating in writing the conditions and restrictions that apply to the stay
Answer and explanation
Answer C: Describing the free stay as a 'prize' the person has won
A premium offered at no cost or reduced cost to promote sales or leasing may not be described as an 'award' or 'prize,' or by a similar term. Calling the free stay a prize is therefore prohibited. The other choices describe things the rules require or permit, such as written disclosure of terms and identifying the employing broker.
