1What is in the pass
- Timed exams, as many as you want. Each one is 120 questions in 3.5 hours, drawn across Pearson VUE's content areas in the scored item counts its Alabama outlines give, 80 general and 40 Alabama, with questions you have not seen yet served first. You get your score by content area against a 70% study target; the Alabama Real Estate Commission publishes no passing score.
- Practice by topic. Pick any of the 8 national content areas or an Alabama area, or the questions you missed last time. The right answer and the reason appear as soon as you answer.
- Alabama questions with their law cited. 129 questions on Alabama rules: who needs a license and who is exempt, cobrokering, temporary and original salesperson licenses and the post-license course, inactive licenses, qualifying brokers and company licenses, teams, the Recovery Fund, complaints and hearings, the estimated closing statement, trust funds, RECAD (agency roles, disclosures and brokerage agreements) and the violations that lead to discipline, and more. Each explanation names the Code of Alabama section or Alabama Real Estate Commission rule it comes from, with the date it was read.
- National questions to the outline. 400 questions on the principles every state tests, weighted to Pearson VUE's national content outline, down to each sub-topic. They include the 80 on the free practice exam.
- Your weak topics, tracked. Every answer is recorded in your browser, so the app can show your accuracy by topic and send you back to the areas below the study target.

Pearson VUE's Alabama outlines give the general part as 80 scored items across eight areas and the Alabama part as 40 scored items across ten areas (1, 7, 2, 5, 2, 2, 1, 2, 3 and 15). The real exam also carries 10 to 15 unscored pretest items. Candidates receive one overall score, so the timed exam here is not split into separately scored parts; it draws the scored items in those counts, in the combined time the handbook gives the two parts. Section 34-27-35 of the Code (license certificates and fees), amended effective October 1, 2026, is not asked because the Legislature's site still shows the earlier text.

2How the Alabama salesperson exam works
- Two parts, one score. The salesperson exam has a general part of eighty (80) scored items in 2.5 hrs and an Alabama part of forty (40) scored items in 1 hr, 3.5 hrs in all, plus 10-15 pretest items that do not count. Candidates will receive an overall score.
- Passing score. The passing score is 70 for salespersons and for brokers on a scale of 0 to 100. Pearson VUE says the scaled score is not the number or the percentage of questions answered correctly, so the timed exams here score you against a study target instead.
- Retakes. If you fail the overall exam, you must retake the entire test. Authorization is good for six months from approval and Unlimited attempts are permitted.
- Fee. The salesperson exam fee is $73.

3A sample Alabama question
This is one of the Alabama questions in the pass, shown with its explanation and the law it comes from.
What constitutes a quorum for the Alabama Real Estate Commission to conduct commission business?
- A majority of the commission members
- Two-thirds of the commission members
- All nine commission members
- The chair plus any three other members
Answer and explanation
Answer A: A majority of the commission members
Alabama law sets the commission's quorum at a majority of its members. A two-thirds or unanimous attendance requirement is not stated anywhere in the law. A majority of the members is enough to conduct business.

Code § 34-27-8(a), in Code of Alabama 1975, Title 34, Chapter 27 (Articles 1, 2, 3 (RECAD) and 4), from the Alabama Legislature's official Code of Alabama site (alison.legislature.state.al.us, read in a browser; history notes left out). Section 34-27-35, amended by Act 2025-379 effective October 1, 2026, is left out because the site still shows the earlier text; sections whose Act 2025-379 amendments take effect October 1, 2028 are the versions in force until then, read October 19, 2026.
